  1. Mistake about Antonello da messina. Wrong attribution.

Among the works of the Italian artist Antonello da Messina, There's an engraving representing a portrait of the painter: http://www.wikiart.org/en/antonello-da-messina#supersized-engraving-186508
This is not a self portrait, but a portrait made by Vasari for his "Lives of the artists". There are in fact many of those portraits, each one representing a different artist, ad they are all made by the hand of Vasari.
    So, please, correct the error.

  4. Random Search button

Hi, I've only just discoved Wikiart and think it's wonderful. Just an idea - instead of having to expand Artworks to select "Random", I think a button would be great to introduce users to artists. I've enjoyed using the random feature, just think it could be made a bit easier :)

  5. Many fakes on this site

I suggest that when a Georgia O'Keefe painting is posted, you check it's authenticity. There are many copies and fakes of her work that show up here; then people 'pin' them on Pinterest as the 'real thing.' I suggest that Wikiart have at the very least link backs as to origin.

  7. ...check your Titian pages!!

The painting 'Fall of Man' which you say was painted by Titian was actually painted by Peter Paul Rubens in 1628-9.

  8. Fix your ad copy.l

The products are fine, but who wrote the ad? A verb is left out ("This advertisement. Why do we show it?"), and a word was added ("'A' legal help"). Childish-sounding words discourage sales.

  10. Museum Integration

Hi guys, I've been thinking about trying to use a camera (like a cell phone's) to be able to recognize pieces of art in museums to bring up information about the work, kind of like the entries in wikiart. would you be interested in a collaboration?

on my end, I would need access to the entire database of images in order to match the image to the artwork. I have a sense that the computer vision problem is relatively straightforward due to the 2D nature of artwork compared to general object recognition problems, and I would imagine that my app…

  11. Edward Hopper - Sun on Prospect Street inaccuracy

Technique is listed as oil, but the image appears to be the 1928 watercolour study he did.

  16. Copyright infringement popup

The popup currently says "Artworks...contemplation. Images of that type of artworks are prohibited for copying...and communicating to public since...infringement." Obviously it's not an infringement if you get permission; what if you changed "Images..." to "Unless the copyright owner has specifically granted you permission, images..."? Also, "communicating to public" in the same popup needs "the" before "public", i.e. "communicating to the public".

  19. Add Filipino artists.

I was searching for Barco en el Horizonte by Felix Hidalgo.
Maybe the Cultural Center of the Philippines can provide HD pix of other Filipino works.

  20. Include translations of Hakuin's poems with his illustrated work

Hakuin's 'The Monkey Is Reaching For The Moon' should include the reflected image of the moon in the water - otherwise the image is meaningless. The poem reads:

    The monkey is reaching
For the moon in the water.
    Until death overtakes him
    He’ll never give up.
If he’d let go the branch and
    Disappear in the deep pool,
    The whole world would shine
    With dazzling pureness
