  1. Alfred Sisley and Camille Pissarro

The Bridge at Moret, 1888 is by Alfred Sisley not Camille Pissarro. His signature is in the lower left corner and it goes with the many other paintings he did of the Bridge after he moved to Moret-sur-Loing. :)

  2. Allow intertextual links

Very often painters will paint within the history of painting, (or even of other Arts), and there should be some way for users to create intertextual links between paintings. this could be as simple as for example showing Gerhard Richter's series of paintings where he repaints the Annunciation of Titian, to other things like the connection between the Arnolfini Portrait and Las Meninas, and so on, and so forth...!!! Yay!

  4. Leonardo da Vinci

Chronology. Whoever put this together did it in a thoughtless manner. Even if you are not very familiar with the works, it is patently obvious that a "study" for a painting is earlier than the painting itself. There are several instances where the studies are shown after the painting.

Put all studies for a particular work immediately before the work itself, for easy comparison. Don't separate them with a drawing of a machine that is unrelated.

Be aware that very very few of Leonardos paintings are reliably dated. This means that the studies are not dated either, unless they happen…

  8. Include a genre tab

I love your site -- however, it would be extremely helpful if there was a "Genre" tab or something along those lines to help with the search. I wanted to search "byzantine" but the search came up only with artists and artworks -- both of which were not helpful to my ongoing search of good information and pictures of byzantine mosaics.

  10. tool tip info

since the titles of the works (or detail) are mentioned below the thumbnails in the 'chronology' strip, perhaps it will be appropriate and helpful if the tool-tip that appears on hovering over a thumbnail gives more information like date and series (or style/ genre) instead of repeating the title
